Houston Plastic Surgeon Dr. Christopher Patronella—an Award-Winning Safety Innovator

Dr. Christopher Patronella, winner of H Magazine’s “Top Doc” award for seven years in a row, has received notable recognition for his contributions to plastic surgery safety throughout his 20-year career. His safety research related to preventing deep vein thrombosis in patients led the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons to honor him with the group’s “Best Presentation” award at its annual 2006 meeting. In addition, the Aesthetic Surgery Journal awarded him, “Best Aesthetic Surgery Journal Article—2008” for his article, “Thromboembolism in High-Risk Aesthetic Surgery: Experience with 17 Patients in a Review of 3,871 Consecutive Cases.
As a founding partner of the Aesthetic Center for Plastic Surgery, one of the largest private plastic surgery practices in Texas, Dr. Patronella has put safety at the forefront of his practice. He implemented rigid safety guidelines at his private surgery center, the ACPS SurgiCentre in 1999. Certified by the American Association of Accredited Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAAASF) his SurgiCentre supercedes the recommended guidelines for private surgical facilities through its attainment of licensure from the the Texas Department of Health. As an additional safety measure, Dr. Patronella utilizes only board certified physician anesthesiologists to monitor patients before, during, and after surgery.
Dr. Patronella has spearheaded the implementation of stringent safety protocol for not only the operating room but for various surgical procedures, as well. His development of a “Delay-Implant Fill Technique” allowed for the safe combination of breast augmentation and a breast lift in a single surgical procedure for women who have both breast sagging and volume loss. As a result of his research and contributions, Dr. Patronella, has received many speaking invitations to plastic surgeon groups throughout the nation and internationally. Through his ACPS Center for Clinical Research, ongoing study is conducted in numerous areas of aesthetic surgery to improve safety and outcomes for patients.
