Improving the Shape and Fullness of Sagging Breasts without Implants

In many circumstances, I will see a patient in a consultation who has sagging breasts and thinks she needs breast implants to restore fullness to the upper portion of the breasts, when, in fact, I will recommend no implant because I think I can restore a nice breast shape without it. If I see a patient who needs a lot of breast lift, I’m not inclined to recommend an implant because if I try to put an implant in at the same time, I am much more restrained in my efforts to lift the breast in order to protect blood circulation to the rest of the breast.
Instead, I would like to be able to restore the nice perky position of the breasts and use a woman’s own tissue to further improve their shape by repositioning them to a much higher level, as I did for the patient featured in this video. In the profile “after surgery” view, you can see her breasts have been lifted off of her rib cage, and I was able to give her good volume in the upper pole without using an implant. In addition, I incorporated a piece of mesh to create a type of “internal bra” to support her breast tissue. Her own collagen will grow in and out of the weave of this mesh, and the mesh itself will go away in time and be resorbed by the body, leaving behind the collagen.
